Giants fall from the Sky: Ghouls and Gourds in the Garden

Synopsis
Bristol University's Stoke Bishop Artist in Residence Melanie Jackson has set up an afternoon of extraordinary pumpkin and vegetable inspired activities for all ages including jack o lantern making, vegetable sculpture, mask making, and a tour of Botanic Garden looking at poisonous plants and fairytale flora, culminating in the suspension and drop of a giant pumpkin from the great height of a crane in an explosive performance.
Details
The afternoon's activites will start at Bristol's Botanic Garden, and move on to the Chapel Field at Wills Hall. Children should be accompanied by an adult. The event is FREE but numbers are limited so please book a ticket at Eventbrite at giantsfallfromthesky.eventbrite.co.uk/
Activities are timed as follows:
- 2pm, Poisonous Plants and Fairytale Flora, tour of the Botanic Gardens
- 3pm, Halloween Workshops at Chapel Field, Wills Hall
- 4pm, Giants fall from the Sky at Chapel Field, Wills Hall
Numbers are limited for the tour and workshops so please book a place for each activity you wish to participate in. Children should be accompanied by an adult .
This residency forms part of a public art programme for the University of Bristol’s Stoke Bishop campus developed by Field Art Projects to make both physical and social connections to the built and natural environments, to develop greater use of the public areas and to work with departments across the University.
