Art and the Public Realm Bristol

Commissioned writer Ellen Wilkinson will run a stall at the local carboot sale, inviting the public to make their own badges to take away. All materials provided.

The event is part of a lively programme of public art projects, talks, workshops and trips that take as a starting point ideas evoked by the Whitchurch and Hengrove Community Orchard.

Ellen Wilkinson: Something more permanent than concrete

Writer Ellen Wilkinson has produced a collection of short statements that evoke ideas about future possibilities. The printed ‘slogans’ are designed to be made into badges that reference the bright, playful design of fruit stickers. Different editions can be collected and edited to read something unique by each wearer. Future Perfect:

Future Perfect is an ambitious public art programme for Hengrove in south Bristol, commissioned by Bristol City Council and curated by Theresa Bergne (Field Art Projects) and Jes Fernie. The programme consists of three commissions by international artists Martino Gamper, Nils Norman and David Thorpe. All three artists have had extensive, fruitful conversations with local people, groups and schools in Hengrove throughout the process of developing their work.
